A Spectacular Coastal Experience!

As the summer sun reaches its zenith and the scent of barbecues fills the air, there’s no better place to celebrate America’s Independence than in the charming coastal town of Dana Point. Firework Shows

Dana Point will light up the sky on the 4th of July at 9:00 p.m. with fireworks launching from a barge off the coastline of Doheny State Beach. Fireworks can be seen from both Doheny State Beach and Dana Point Harbor, making it the optimal destination to view the night sky full of magic. Families and friends gather on the beach with picnic blankets and beach chairs, enjoying picnics and camaraderie as they wait for the main event. Resort guests and members staying at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club will be dazzled by a radiant Fireworks Show for 4th of July. Enjoy specialty seating and dining at 33 North, AVEO, and Bourbon Steak, or gather with the family on the Grand Lawn. Learn more

Condor Squadron Flyover

Prior to the fireworks show, the Condor Squadron – consisting of WWII North American AT-6 airplanes – will be making a flyover in Dana Point from 5:50-5:55pm. Look up to the skies for this annual tradition.

Fireworks Cruises

Enjoy the ultimate firework viewing experience at sea! Hop on board for a water cruise to watch the fireworks. Book your reservation with Dana Wharf Whale Watching, Captain Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari, or Ocean Institute.

Fireworks can be seen from many of the resorts and hotels in Dana Point – or are a short walking distance from viewing locations! Book an overnight stay, join in on the festivities, and explore Dana Point! Some resorts offer exclusive 4th of July themed activities from breakfast kickoffs for the holiday, poolside fun that is sure to make a splash, and spectacular viewing areas to see the fireworks from the resort and hotel balconies.

Summer Trolley

Cruise the coast on the FREE Dana Point Trolley! Visitors and locals alike can hop on the Dana Point Trolley and explore all parts of town while on the North Route or South Route. Getting Here

Access to Doheny State Beach on the morning of 4th of July is very congested. A line of vehicles forms overnight to enter Doheny, so please plan ahead. Left turn movements on Dana Point Harbor Drive will be restricted the night before at Puerto Place, in the early morning hours at Park Lantern, and in the Harbor west of Golden Lantern during the event.

Scenic Drive will be closed at Cove Road starting at 8pm due to emergency access issues and will reopen after the fireworks. Cove Road will be closed from 8:50-9:30pm to allow for emergency access vehicles only and will reopen after the fireworks to allow exiting traffic from the Harbor to use as an alternative.
