The 49th annual Dana Point Turkey Trot is Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 26, 2026, at Dana Point Harbor. The race takes about an hour. The best part of Thanksgiving in Dana Point takes four days. Here's everything you need for race morning, plus a simple Wednesday to Sunday plan that turns a 5K into a holiday by the ocean.

Why you should book the room, not just the race
Back to Top of ListMost Turkey Trot runners drive in at dawn and drive home by lunch. That means a 5 a.m. alarm, a parking scramble and Thanksgiving dinner eaten in race-day fog. Stay nearby and the whole day changes: pick up your bib the day before, walk to the start, and spend the rest of the long weekend on the coast instead of on the freeway.
It also solves the drive home. The Sunday after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year. Stay Sunday night and head home Monday, after the traffic clears.
