Summer Jams Concert Series at The Ocean Institute

The Summer Jams Concert Series is a family-friendly three-part series that takes you behind the music with an exclusive artist interview and intimate concert by the sea. Tickets will also include access to Ocean Institute inter tidal touch tanks and our shark tank exhibit.
Summer Jams Concerts: July 7, July 21, August 4

– Music Preserves Foundation and Ocean Institute have partnered on the second
annual Summer Jams Concert Series. The nonprofits will host three unforgettable nights of music and education
for the community. Slated for three Friday evenings in July and August, the events will include pre-concert
discussions with the musicians about the cultural history of each genre of music hosted by Music Preserves
Foundation followed by a full concert performance at the gorgeous indoor/outdoor Samueli Conference Center
and Courtyard at the Ocean Institute in the Dana Point Harbor.

The City of Dana Point and the OHANA Festival are both lending their support to the nonprofits and the
community by sponsoring the Summer Jams concert series. “We are proud to have the support of the City of
Dana Point and OHANA Festival, and value their commitment to presenting music for our city this summer,”
states Anthony Small, Executive Director of Music Preserves Foundation. Katrina Foley, Supervisor Fifth District, County of Orange, and Clean Juice, the newest member of the Dana Point business community, have both joined as sponsors and are looking forward to supporting the missions of Ocean Institute and Music Preserves.

All three events are scheduled for 6-9 PM and will include food and drink options for purchase including a selection of food trucks, outdoor bars stocked with red and white wine, seltzers, non-alcoholic beverages, and a delicious selection of beers sponsored by Delahunt Brewing Co.and Station Craft Brewery and Kitchen.

On Friday, July 7, Vicky Tafoya and the Big Beat will bring a vibrant and energetic Rhythm & Blues Revue to Dana Point Harbor. With a commanding stage presence, one of the most talented singers in the game will deliver a deep bluesy soul like you’ve never experienced.

On Friday, July 21, Kareeta will light up the Ocean Institute with their incredible mix of traditional Country Music
and Americana tunes inspired by the deep well of American roots music. Rising from the swamps of the southern delta, their music soars with stories of red sky redemption.

On Friday, August 4th, Marc Ford will present Rock and Roll music for the ages. As one of the world’s preeminent guitarists and former lead guitarist for The Black Crowes, he will deliver genius song craft after an opening set by distinct local Americana rock band, Mojave Ghost.

“Complementing the success of our in-school American Music History programs in the Capistrano Unified School District, we are thrilled to bring three exciting and culturally important music events to our community this summer,” states Patti Compton, President of Music Preserves Foundation.
