Visit Dana Point is working on behalf of the local hospitality and tourism industry to provide business related COVID-19 updates and resources, as well as tools to help guide you through the recovery process. Visit Dana Point is active on a locally, regionally, and nationally to gain data driven insights and perspectives as it relates to the travel industry, overall economy and GDP, and recovery efforts. Visit Dana Point has aggregated a variety of resources to help the local business community move into the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Visit Dana Point is working closely with Visit California, who is working with Gov. Newsom’s senior administration officials to distribute the most accurate and timely information, in an effort to identify key dates and metrics that will allow for a safe reopening of our community. Variables and details change rapidly and we will post the latest information and intel on recovery efforts.

Visit California COVID-19 Resource Center – Provides details on the Visit California recovery efforts, timelines, talking points, social media templates and research.

Coraggio Group Destination Recovery Toolkit “Prioritize” (Coraggio Group) – Making decisions in a highly disrupted time can be daunting. You may not have ample decision-making time or sufficient data to inform your decisions, and it can be hard to focus on those courses of actions that are both urgent and productive. MEETINGS AND GROUP BUSINESS

Events Industry Council APEX COVID Business Recovery Task Force: Visit Dana Point’s strategic media partner, JNS Next Media Hub, hosted a Zoom conference call with travel and tourism professional David Kliman, The Kliman Group, to discuss the future of group meeting and leisure travel. David Kliman, an industry veteran, is a founding member of the newly created APEX COVID Business Recovery Task Force, led by Co-Chairs Michael Dominguez, President and CEO, Associated Luxury Hotels International (AHLI), and Kristin Horstman, Senior Director, Strategic Events, Salesforce.   2. Visit Dana Point has engaged with other OC DMO’s to work toward a plan with County Supervisors and local officials on the definition of “large gatherings” and to bring to light the importance of meetings and group business in our communities. First conference call will be 05/06/2020

This information will help travel marketers activate the most informed marketing strategies based on the most recent consumer travel activities.   1. Travel Intentions Pulse Survey (TIPS): Impact of Covid-19 The U.S. Travel Association has partnered with MMGY Travel Intelligence to conduct a biweekly study of U.S. business and leisure travelers. This survey measures current and future traveler sentiment amid the COVID-19 pandemic and will track trends and shifts in travel intentions.
  2. Destination Analyst’ Traveler Sentiment Index Report: Reports on the current state or mind of the American traveler and the outlook on travel.
  3. ADARA COVID-19 Resource Center helps travel brands adapt to this fast-changing environment. The ADARA Traveler Trends Tracker taps into real-time travel data to track travel-related consumer behavior and identify key trends. This data is updated frequently.
  4. Arrivalist’s Daily Travel Index measures consumer road trips of 50 miles or more in all 50 U.S. states. The data is drawn from a panel of GPS signals representing road trips taken by car. The insights have been prepared to help travel marketers and other industry professionals gauge fluctuations in drive market trips in any of the 50 U.S. states.

  1. State Tax Assistance: Employers experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19 may request up to a 60-day extension from the State Employment Development Department (EDD) to file their state payroll reports and/or deposit state payroll taxes without penalty or interest.
