Date Day or Night in Dana Point

July 11, 2019

Richard Henry Dana Jr. called Dana Point “the most romantic spot in California”, when he voyaged here from Boston in the mid 1800’s.

Dana Point’s romance stretches along its shores with sweeping views of the Pacific. Date Night with an ocean view is just what the doctored ordered with a stay at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort and Club. It’s perched along the hillside overlooking the pristine beach of Dana Point is a sanctuary for couples to relax by the beach.

Start the day and reconnect with your loved one at the Spa located at the resort, with a Couples Relaxation Retreat or enjoy a partner yoga class. It’s the perfect escape for two and a dreamy start to an amazing night away.

The Perfect Date Night Happens…

Experiencing a summer night in Dana Point with its serene coastal lifestyle and a view of the sunset can make your much-needed time away feel like a long vacation. Ditch your car and take a ride on a trolley to guide you into town. The City of Dana Point offers a free trolley during the summer months.

Dine like a Local

Dine with a good drink or two at Craft House. Chef Blake was born and raised in South Orange County. His menu reflects the local spirit of Dana Point with his seasonal dishes. They offer wonderful craft cocktails and beer along with a bountiful wine list. Cozy up to the bar for social hour, weekday specials and an impressive Sunday Brunch. Cocktail musts: The Sangria, Farmer’s Market Margarita, and The Florist.

Music on Dana Point Harbor

Trolley on down to the harbor after dinner and enjoy a Live Music Harbor Cruise on Dana Wharf’s boat The Dana Pride. Rock out on the deck with as you dance the night away to local bands. There is nothing like having a drink in your hand, sitting on a boat, and watching the sun go down as you listen to music. A live concert under the stars couldn’t be more romantic.

End on a Sweet Note

Dessert is the cherry on top to a fantastic beach day, which is why Coastal Kitchen is a great stop before heading back to the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach. Walk through their breezy doors and you will wish that you could transport the décor to your home. Designed locally by Tuvalu (Hobie), their nautical themed restaurant is light and bright. Their service is wonderfully paired with their menu of coastal cuisine. The desserts are simply divine and paired with an after dinner drink is pure bliss!  Save room and sample all three sweets: Smore’s Pie, Key Lime Pie, and the Hot Fudge Sundae.
