Dana Point Golf Courses

When you play at Monarch Beach Golf Links, you’ll understand why it is among the top Southern California golf resorts. Here, the dramatic coastline provides a crystal blue backdrop to rolling greens artfully poised atop historic cliffs and towering bluffs and legendary beaches. The championship Dana Point golf course is truly as challenging as it is mesmerizing.

The Best Southern California Golf Resort

When people think of California golf resorts, Pebble Beach is often the iconic image that comes to mind. We think Monarch Beach Golf Links should be up there, too. On Yelp, visitors to Dana Point golf courses say things like “breathtaking ocean view,” “fairways are in great condition,” “the staff we ran into were all so nice and friendly” and “I was greeted by fresh baked cookies in the golf shop!” Okay, that last one wasn’t directly related to golf, but who doesn’t love fresh baked cookies?

Our point is that Dana Point doesn’t just have golf courses. We have golf experiences that take your day from memorable to un-freakin’-forgettable.

Monarch Beach Golf Links

Of all the Dana Point golf courses, the most well known is Monarch Beach Golf Links, located adjacent to the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club. This par-70 championship course offers an unending variety of play and offers tee times to the public as well as resort guests. Golf Magazine Premier Resort Award Winner 2016-2017 & back to back winner of the OC Registers Best of OC People Choice Awards 2017 & 2018.

Master architect, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. fashioned the intriguing layout of this Dana Point golf course in the Scottish links tradition. Monarch Beach Golf Links is also one of the select few oceanfront golf courses in California.

While much of Dana Point’s dress code only requires flip flops and a swimsuit, Monarch Beach Golf Links does require proper golf attire to play. An on-site pro shop allows visitors to shop for clothes and equipment on site. Clubs are available for rent, so there’s no need to bring them with you on the plane.

When you book a tee time at Monarch Beach Golf Links, guest fees include a golf cart, bottled water and color touch-screen GPS for navigating all 18 holes. If you want to combine the fun of surfing with golfing, you can rent a golf board to surf the earth between swings.

You can also reserve a Waterman Forecaddie for your game to help you expertly play each hole, help with club selection and track down the occasional stray golf ball. Before you leave the resort, they can even assist with booking stand-up paddleboard excursions and surf lessons.

While tee times can be booked months in advance, Monarch Beach Golf Links also offers drop-in golf, so you can play at the last minute.
