Golden Galleon Boutique
Today we are highlighting Golden Galleon Boutique and its owner, Marla. Golden Galleon has been in Dana Point Harbor for over 40 years and has made quite an impact on the community of women here. With a unique collection of clothing and accessories, our Southern California locals and those visiting can shop coastal chic styles and gifts for anyone! Visit Dana Point: For those who don’t know about your business, would you please describe who you are and what you offer?
Golden Galleon Boutique: Golden Galleon Boutique offers a unique shopping experience for visitors and locals alike.
Located on the water’s edge in Dana Point Harbor, the vibe is “Southern California casual” which meets upscale, contemporary fashion.
We carry women’s clothing, gifts, jewelry, shoes, accessories, and more, and feature a mix of established well-known labels with unique and original new lines as well as one-of-a-kind pieces from emerging designers.
Each item is hand-selected by Marla (owner) to ensure that it represents the right mix of a feminine and fabulous yet classic and effortless style that encompasses the essence of the boutique.
Visit Dana Point: Can you talk about when you decided to start your own business and what inspired you?
Golden Galleon Boutique: Marla took over the business in 1979. At the time, she owned a little shell shop, also in the Dana Point Harbor, which was her “foot in the door” for taking over Golden Galleon Boutique 43 years ago.
Visit Dana Point: What are the biggest rewards for a business owner? Or one of your proudest moments?
Golden Galleon Boutique: It’s such a treat to watch someone fall in love with the styles we’ve curated for the store. Our goal is for every customer to leave us with a smile on their face. One of the greatest rewards is being able to make someone feel confident and beautiful wearing the things they find here.
Because this store has such a long history, we hear tons of “generational” stories. It’s extremely rewarding to hear from our customers that their grandmothers and mothers used to shop with us and now they shop with us too! We’re on our third generation of customers and feel incredibly proud to hold that kind of special place in peoples’ hearts.
And Golden Galleon even has a generational story of its own! For years before she passed, my mother worked here and now my daughter, Briana, works here too. We’re a family-owned business and see our employees and customers as part of our family too.
Visit Dana Point: Where do you see your business in the future?
Golden Galleon Boutique: It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve as a Dana Point Harbor merchant for all these years and we look forward to continuing our legacy of serving this wonderful community.
Visit Dana Point: When you’re not working, what is your favorite thing to do in Dana Point?
Golden Galleon Boutique: We love to spend the day at Doheny State Beach! The day-use area is the perfect spot to watch the waves from our RV. Another favorite thing is to take my grandson for walks around the harbor, just like I did with my daughter Briana when she was a little girl. So peaceful and brings back many amazing memories!

Golden Galleon Boutique: We make every effort to ensure our fashions are Made in the United States and of the finest quality. Open 7 days a week 10-6 pm.
